Obviously John had to have a Sergio Tacchini kit, only the stuff they make could be so...interesting.

I used Jo Wilfred Tsonga as a body-reference for this one. In my (admittedly overactive) imagination he suited the body shape I imagine John to have a lot better than the more traditionally leaner, less broad players.

And also I associate double hander's with Babolat rackets, plus the fact that John would probably be a double handed lefty, due to needing to compensate for a shoulder injury.

I admit that I put far too much thought into all of this.

Much as I hate tennis - or, to be accurate, tennis hated me as a teen - I love your John. He looks so serious and focused you can easily guess who is standing across the net...

No, strangely enough I did these quite a while before either of the Sherlock tennis AU fics appeared on LJ, I have commented on the one on the kinkmeme before though, so maybe that was it :P
